the sommerakademie

The home of the Thüringische Sommerakademie is Böhlen, a small village overlooking the Thuringian Forest situated in the beautiful countryside between Weimar and Coburg. Founded in 1992 and located in a former factory, the academy is now a well-known meeting place for workshops in art and poetry, theatre, dance and music.

A special project ist the Internationale Kammermusikwoche. About 30 music students or young ensembles from all over the world came together in this place to work with international well-known soloists and chamber musicians to create a wonderful music in an atmosphere of inspiration and concentration. The public rehearsals and concerts are unforgotten highlights of the last years.

Böhlen is reachable in about 4–5 hours by car from Frankfurt, Munich or Berlin. The place ist reachable also by train until to the neighbour village, Meuselbach-Schwarzmühle.
